What's in your compliance awareness program?
I find it totally amazing that one of the basic tenets of law -- around the world -- is that you are not
immune to prosecution when you break the law if your entire defense is "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that."
And yes, how many of us in our compliance implementation processes actually have as a base element a compliance awareness program to diseminate the information about all of the authorit documents that we should be following? I would hazard a guess, not many of us.
But again, that's not an excuse for not having a compliance awareness campaign because each and every organization out there should have at least a basic awareness campaign.
This got me to thinking -- what if we all collectively got together and shared our ideas on how best to create a compliance awareness program? You know, something that could be ongoing in our organizations. There are probably as many methods (such as sending out formal memos as our buddy on the left is doing, or having a group meeting as our friends below right are doing) as there are organizations. So why don't we put our heads together, we could all learn something cool.
We do a lot of writing about this and that and what we've learned. However, writing is like breathing. When we write, we are breathing out. You can only breathe out so long before you have to take a breath in. Our way of breathing in is to learn from you, our readers, our audience, our partners.
We've put together a quick survey to find out about what you are running as awareness campaigns.
The survey for you to communicate your thoughts on a compliance awareness program can be found by clicking the link HERE. That will pop the survey into a new window.
If you want to check out the results of the survey, you can sign up to get those results by filling out the quick form below:
As we begin to learn more about what you are doing, we are going to add that material here. Since we are just starting the survey, there isn't anything to add right now. So take the survey and let's get the discussion started!
