What's in a name?

The Evolution from Unified Compliance Framework to Unified Control Fabric

For years, UCF has stood for the Unified Compliance Framework—a name that reflected our mission of bringing together the world's regulatory and standards-based requirements into a single, harmonized model.

But as our platform, our technology, and the market have evolved, so has what we deliver. Today, we're redefining what UCF stands for.

UCF is now the Unified Control Fabric.

Why Fabric?

A framework organizes. A fabric connects, adapts, and powers.

That distinction matters—because what we've built is no longer a static reference model. It's a living system of control intelligence that enterprises plug into, build on, and run through every layer of their compliance operations.

At its core is a set of over 14,000 Intelligent Controls, each one a fully realized object: a precise definition, classification by type, mapped areas of impact, linked assets across cloud, applications, endpoints, and vendors, assigned ownership, embedded audit questions for validation, and full traceability back to the source authority document. These controls are continuously refined through our patented process, applied across more than 4,000 regulatory and standards documents—and now accelerated through advanced AI.

The word fabric captures what framework no longer can: a connective, adaptive infrastructure that doesn't just describe compliance—it operationalizes it.

The Control Foundry: AI-Powered, Customer-Facing

Historically, integrating new documents into this system required deep expertise and significant effort. Unified Compliance has done this work for customers for years, but the process remained specialized and manual.

That changes now.

We're introducing ControlFoundry—a virtualized, AI-assisted system that ingests new regulatory documents, policies, and control sets, extracts actionable mandates, and maps them into the existing Control Fabric. It then continuously maintains and evolves those mappings as requirements change.

Here's what matters most: we're opening this capability to our customers.

Bring us a 100-page regulation and see it molded into the fabric of harmonized Intelligent Controls in days, not months. Feed in your internal policy library and watch it align with the global regulatory landscape automatically. That's the shift.

Your Controls. Your Policies. One Fabric.

Every enterprise has internal policies, custom control frameworks, industry-specific requirements, and operational constraints that live in silos—disconnected from external regulatory frameworks and difficult to align at scale.

With the Unified Control Fabric and ControlFoundry, customers can bring their internal policies into the same model as global regulations, convert custom controls into Intelligent Controls, automatically map internal requirements to external mandates, and maintain alignment as both sides evolve. This isn't integration in the traditional sense. It's genuine unification—one model, one language, one continuously maintained fabric that spans everything from internal IT policy to international regulatory mandates.

This is the capability that makes the rebrand meaningful. The Unified Control Fabric isn't just a new name for an old product. It's the infrastructure that lets organizations stop managing compliance in fragments and start operating from a single, coherent system.

What's Next

Over the coming months, we'll be rolling out ControlFoundry integrated into our powerful ControlSight platform to bring the full power of the Unified Control Fabric directly into the hands of our customers—powered by AI, grounded in our patented methodology, and designed for the next era of compliance.
